A lot of new plugins that are coming out are only 64 bit capable, or only AAX/AU compatible (no RTAS/TDM). We're coming closer to the era of everyone adapting AAX and 64 bit. At most major recording facilities here in LA, its not a priority to always have the latest and greatest simply because compatibility with other studios in town, home rigs, and general cost for a studio (with 5 rooms to buy a whole new set of computers, software, pcie cards, cabling, drives, converters, etc). Nobody wants to change to PT11 because of the new AAX plugin format and the incompatibility of older plugins, but i'm here to tell you that the change is inevitable at this point.
